Elmore County Leadership Program Seeks Applicants

Leadership Elmore County is looking for a few good applicants to complete their nine month program, starting in September. Basic membership qualifications include being at least 21years of age, and either living or working in Elmore County. Leadership Elmore County is open to adults with leadership experience and a desire to enhance leadership capacity, work with others and get involved.

Leadership Elmore County is based on the idea of bringing together individuals, who represent the diversity of the population of the county and who share concerns for improving the quality of life in Elmore County. These individuals have already shown a willingness and ability to assume leadership responsibilities in their communities.

As a part of the program the individuals will receive information and updates on issues and challenges facing our communities in different areas. We encourage networking, action oriented focus groups, and placement in positions of community involvement. We, also, network with other area Leadership programs.

During the year, participants attend day-long sessions based on one area of interest. The emphasis is not on “who” is a leader but on the process of working together. The program is directed by past participants and other community leaders. Tuition is $300. Willingness to become involved in Leadership Elmore County is a commitment to make a difference in the future of our area.

To be considered for the 2009 Class, go to www.leadershipelmorecounty.com and click on the “Apply” section. Print out an application, fill it out and return by July 1st or call Marilee Tankersley, Executive Director, at 567-4637 for more information. The class will be selected by early August.

LEC Retreat a Success!

The Leadership Elmore County, Class of 2008, recently completed their initial retreat at the 4-H Center in Columbiana, Alabama.  The retreat gives the members of the class the opportunity to learn to work with one another as they participated in various rope courses facilitated by the 4-H Center.  The members of the class were also given a profile of their particular leadership style by way of the DISC program.   Pictured  from left to right: Merilee Tankersly, Alan Mitchell, Cathy Nielsen-Barrett, Bruce Adamson, Cindy Veazey, Kenny Holt, Charles Rowe, Jason Britt, Leslie Weldon, Vic Ortloff, Reuben Redd, Jennifer Byrd, Tim Gates, Lacie Amerson, Leisa Finley, Dan Dannenmueller, June Myers, Lee Jackson, Missy Rhoades, Eric Jones, and Lee Macon.
